Highly Efficient Cyanosilylation of Sterically Bulky Ketones Catalyzed by Tin Ion‐Exchanged Montmorillonite

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p><jats:boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor"><jats:graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mimetype="image/gif" position="anchor" specific-use="enlarged-web-image" xlink:href="graphic/mcontent.gif"><jats:alt-text>magnified image</jats:alt-text></jats:graphic></jats:boxed-text></jats:p><jats:p>Tin ion‐exchanged montmorillonite (Sn‐Mont) was found to be a powerful catalyst for the cyanosilylation of aromatic and aliphatic ketones having a carbonyl group in sterically congested circumstances with cyanotrimethylsilane, giving the corresponding cyanohydrin trimethylsilyl ethers in excellent yields.</jats:p>
