抄録

An application of a fluoride ion-selective electrode after coprecipitation of fluoride with aluminum pho sphate to the determination of fluoride ion in various water samples has been studied. Analytical procedure is as follows. To sample solution of 250 cm3, 4 cm3 of potassium aluminum sulfate solution(5 mg Al/cm3) and 10 cm3 of 0.5 mol dm-3 potassium dihydrogenphosphate solution are added and then pH is adjusted to 4.7 with dilute ammonia solution. After heating for about 5 min, the precipitate is separated and dissolved in about 6 cm3 of 2 mol dm-3 hydrochloric acid. To this solution, 4 cm3 of the complexing buffer solution(mixture of citrate, CyDTA, and sodium chloride: CBS) for masking of aluminum is added and pH is adjusted to about 6 with ammonia solution, moreover, 4 cm3of CBS is added. The potential is measured with an ion-selective electrode after the total volume is adjusted to 50 cm3 with water. Fluoride ion of 5100 μg was quantitatively coprecipitated with adding 20 mg of aluminum at pH 4.45.0. The relative standard deviation was 1.8 % in the six analytical results of 0.04 ppm fluoride ion. Large amounts of sodium ion and chloride ion do not interfere with the determination of fluoride ion. The proposed method was applied to the determination of fluoride ion in natural water such as river-, well-, and sea-water. The values determined by the proposed method agreed well with those obtained by the other method. This method is simple and rapid, and suitable for the determination of fluoride ion at the concentration of ppb level in water.
