By using an Ar LASER source, a monochromater and some apparatus available, a simple LASER microprobe Raman observation system was assembled. Converging the primary beam up to 20μm in diameter, sufficient intensity of Raman signals and S/N ratio from samples of about 10-6 mm3 were obtained. Sample manipulation was, required in order the beam to focus on the relevant point of sample to observe the spot microscopically. Effective monochromizing of the collected photons to separate Raman signal from the intence random-scattered primary beam was carried out successfully without retaining high back ground. The resulting spectra are useful for identification of materials, analysis of chemical states, and obtaining crystallographic informations of inter-and intra-molecular arrangements.
