Abstract

Damage to timber school buildings in Great East Japan earthquake was reported.<br> Some school buildings using old timber construction were reported to have a partial collapse, cracks of outer walls. School buildings using laminated timber construction only experienced minor damage to the concrete foundation and the end of steel bracings. A large amount of damage due to ground deformation and the liquefaction occurred.[This abstract is not included in the PDF]
