Description

This is an attempt to synthesize silicone oils, of which the chemical species are identical with those of the Dow Corning silicone oils DC 704 and DC 705. The silicone oils prepared hete are called HIVAC F-4 and F-5, which correspond to DC 704 and DC 705, respectively. Identification has been made with the data on the vapour pressure, the refractive index, the infra-red spectra, and the gas chromatography and satisfactory results are obtained. Furthermore, the thermal stability and the ultimate pressure obtained with the metal pump system without refrigeration is 1×10-8Torr for HIVAC F-4 and 2×10-9 Torr for HIVAC F-5.
