抄録

It has been known that a shape memory alloy usually undergoes small thermal hysteresis upon martensitic and reverse transformations. In the present report it is shown that a Fe-Mn-Si alloy containing proper amounts of Mn and Si exhibits a complete shape memory effect of a one way type with the temperature hysteresis as large as 500 K. Characteristic features controlling the shape memory effect by γ _??_ε transformation are discussed in the light of the development of the Fe-Mn-Si alloy as a cost saving shape memory alloy.
