Description
There are about 250, 000 reservoirs being utilized water in Japan. These reservoirs, mainly the bank of these reservoirs, are progressing in deterioration with the lapse of time after their construction. Many reservoirs have been occurring functional disorder by leakage of water near the end of the bank. In many case, the leakage of water occurres at vein streams existing in the bank. Accordingly, it is very important factor that we make the existence of vein streams clear at the time of considering a counterplot with leakage of water.<BR>Obtaining the information on the existence place of vein streams in the bank of old reservoir, we carried out the investigation method of groundwater by measuring one-meter-depth underground temperature. As the result, it was presumed that some vein streams existed in the bank. In order to obtain positive information on the presumed vein streams, we carried out groundwater prospection and groundwater tracer method at each bore hole which was digged in each vein stream. As the result, the existence of vein streams were proved by these examinations.<BR>On the basis of the reasult, pertinent preventive works on leakage of water was carried out at the bank of the old reservoir. After the preventive works, underground temperature survey was carried out at same place of the bank again. And we could obtain very good result on the effect of the preventive works.<BR>As mentioned above, we would like to consider that underground temperature suvey method is very useful method for detecting leakage places of water at on old reservoir.
