Description
For a design of coatings structure to enhance the antichipping ability of automotive coatings, analyses of crashworthy mechanism of coatings are important. We accomplished to analyze the time-course behavior of strain distribution and destruction of paint coatings by numerical analysis for multilayer coatings model, and confirmed the correspondence between the numerical calculation results and the experimental results of antichipping test. In consequence, the chipping phenomenon of paint coatings was understood as the progression of local destruction caused by impulse energy propagation and dispersion inside the paint coatings.
