Abstract

We evaluated tactile feel and friction properties of five cosmetic sponges by a friction meter with the contact probe which reflects geometrical and mechanical properties of real human fingers. When subjects touched these sponges with their fingers, dry, soft, smooth, and non-textured sponges were favorable. These tactile feelings changed with friction and mechanical properties and morphologies of cells in the sponges. These findings are useful to design cosmetic sponges.
