January 2015 will mark the 20th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. 'Shinsai-Bunko' (the library of the earthquake disaster) of Kobe University Library which is located in the quake-hit-area started collecting the Quake-related materials 3 months after the Earthquake, and has been providing and disseminating information through the Internet while sorting, archiving, presenting and digitalizing it. Its activities have been drawing attentions after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 from the libraries and such of the affected areas, but the recovery of the areas and people's lives as well as the study of the earthquake requires long duration of time. From my experience of being involved in 'Shinsai-Buko' that is about to mark the 20th year of its foundation, I would like to consider what kind of concepts are required in order to maintain and utilize the archives of earthquake records.
