Diffusion constant of a kink in discrete nonlinear systems, such as the φ4 and the Frenkel-Kontorova models, is studied based on the transition state theory(TST) and the newly proposed statistical mechanics of a constrained system. Our results are compared with the simulation results by Combs and Yip.
