Temperature Dependence of Debye-Waller Factors of Metals

Abstract

The Debye-Waller factors of copper, silver, gold, aluminium, sodium and α-iron are computed by using Krebs’ model for the lattice dynamics of metals. Blackman’s sampling technique has been used for 8000 wave vectors in the first Brillouin zone to evaluate the average over the phonon spectrum. The calculated values of the Debye-Waller exponents are compared with available experimental data and the results are discussed.
