Abstract

The situation of patent applications and registrations of universities is analyzed by patent information databases. The unique/original technical fields of a university lead to high ratio of registered patents compared to patent applications. And, many patent applications do not necessarily bring a lot of registered patents. Furthermore, we are able to know an action stage of a university by the examination request ratio, registered patent ratio and consideration of the situation of industrialization. These findings will be useful for universities because they can know the status of their intellectual property activity and fortune strategy for high quality patents.
