Description

In this paper, the usage of XML as a representation format for metadata is introduced. XML is an international standard of description language for Internet documents. W3C, an organization for international standards on WWW such as XML, is also preparing RDF, an international standard for a general-purpose metadata description framework. Existing metadata standards such as PICS and Dubling Core are being integrated as applications of RDF. XML is used as the interchange format for RDF metadata. IN this paper, fundamental specifications of XML that are used in RDF are introduced. Then, basic model on RDF and the XML representations for RDF metadata are described.
