Description

Japanese and foreign cases of cutaneous alternarosis were reviewed and one case is summarized in this presentation. The case is one of a 10 years old gairl (in 1972) 6) .
The diagnostic term cutaneous alternariosis is now acceptable for this skin disease which is divided into superficial and profound types. It is clinically most of the manifested on exposedareas, including face, hands and forearms.
In some cases, injury or corticosteroid ointment is responsible of the pathogenesis of the disease, but in other cases full identification has not been possible. The profound type first develops small papules or pustules and these subsequently group together to form macular erythema with infiltration.
Histologically, the superficial type shows acute inflammatory abscess, while the profound type shows chronic granulomatous inflammation and spores and occasional hyphae are observed inside or outside of giant cells in the dermis.
