Description

The surface texture changes of four kinds of resin composites were compared with that of commercially available acrylic plate, which was used as a control.Roughness and gloss of various polished resin surfaces before and after a toothbrushing test under various abrasive conditions were measured by a profile recorder and a gloss meter. The worn surfaces of the resin composites were observed using a scanning electron microscope. The surface roughness of all resin composites more or less increased after the toothbrushing test. The MFR type resin(Silux Plus)showed the smoothest surface. Also, the surface roughness of the Hybrid type resin(BR-100)was close to that of the MFR type resin, with no significant difference. The abrasive agent comprising toothpaste, glycerine and water had the most severe effect on the surface texture of the resin composites.
