Although we go without saying the importance of public transit system in urban area, it is not negligible the problems to be solved for planning and operation. In this paper, the authors clarified the current situations and the organization systems of Bus Rapid Transit in advanced cities, Bogotá, Jakarta, Seoul and Curitiba, based on the existing data and interview survey. The authors aimed to compare the revelations about planning, management and operation stage of urban public transportation focused on the background, finance resources and so on. In addition, we considered the directivity of urban bus transit planning and explained with an example about the ideal assigning tasks of municipalities and private transit companies in Japan.
