Description

This study analyzed the influence of the Japanese settlement in Seoul city construction by Government General of Korea under Japanese rule. Many existing studies had reported that infrastructure was constructed preferentially in the Japanese settlement. However, this study arrived at a different conclusion with substantial analysis. Government General of Korea had aimed at the equalization of the infrastructure in the city. Therefore, the government general had been indifferent to the Japanese settlement, that had already had infrastructure. This study concluded that the existence of the Japanese settlement had not functioned as a precondition in city planning or street improvement.
