Abstract
This study aims to clarify the spatial characteristics of the Greenery and Open Space at the factory sites in Kawasaki Sea-side Industrial Area. The methodology of research consists of three parts; first, creation of the greenery and open space map from the satellite images, second, creation of industrial green database composed by quantification of greenery and open space inside of the each industrial site, and third, spatial analysis of greenery and open space especially focusing on its size, quality, allocation. As a conclusion, the first layer zone, formed at the beginning of industrialization of this area as well as located adjacent to the residential zone, relatively has little greenery and open space in terms of its amount and size. As for the quality of greenery and open space, the first layer also has different characteristics compared to the other layers. Based on these findings, the green development strategies for the study site is discussed.
