Abstract

After the new construction of a trunk road it is supposed theoretically that land use of its roadside would be transformed to intensive usage under the planned zoning and tall buildings will be located, as preventing fire spreading over blocks. This study tries to clarify actual conditions of land use at the roadside of newly constructed trunk road in the existing urbanized area through a case study done in Kanazawa City. The Markov chain is used as one of analytical tools, in which fireproof buildings are supposed as the absorbing stage. As results of this study it is concluded that land use transformation varies according its location and designated zoning, and adjacent area of the trunk road transformed its land use fairly rapidly after construction.
