Abstract

Recently, public facilities reduction are highlighted in the local authorities in Japan, because most areas are facing to the declining population and deteriorating local finance. Under this situation, public facilities reduction can be negatively affected to the administrative services; therefore we should consider how we reduce public facilities with better administrative services. The purpose of this study is to clarify public facilities reduction method in terms of maintaining administrative services. The paper firstly reviews town planning policies for public facilities in Yokosuka City, followed by the calculation of future demand for administrative services and analysis of maintenance cost for public facilities. From the analysis, it is possible to reduce public facilities with maintaining existing administrative services. However, we should consider demand trend of each small region for efficient facilities reduction.
