Abstract

1. The chromosome number of six clones of Chelidonium majus collected from various regions was 2n=10. The karyotype of these clones, however, varied from clone to clone. The clone found in Shigenobu-cho had a very small chromosome which could not be observed in the other clones.
2. The size of the somatic chromosomes in a nuclear plate of all clones varied gradually from large to small and the smallest was about half the size of the largest. In many cases, the larger four of the ten chromosomes in a nuclear plate had submedian constrictions and the others had subterminal ones.
3. Various types of chromosome ring or chain were always observed in MI of PMCs. The configuration of No. 4-11 most frequently observed was (4)+(4)+1II in MI and No. 10-5 had more configurations of (4)+(3)+(3) and (10) than the other ones.
