Abstract

<p>This tribute describes how information assets and analytical methods pioneered by Dr. Garfield are utilized in science and technology policy research at the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP). I describe overviews of the development of analyses using the Science Citation Index and of the development of Science Map study and explain the change in the relationship between these studies and the planning of science and technology policy in Japan.</p>
