Abstract

While the number of business model patent applications has increased in Japan, the approval rate has been decreasing. It has been noted that insufficient prior patent search is one cause of the decline. One way of solving the problem is patent reference using a patent information database. Derwent Information offers the database that comprehensively covers the patent information on all the fields in over 40 nations of the world. This article is introducing the patent information database Derwent offers, including the business model patent information database known as "e-commerce and business process patents."
