Description
[purpose] To report a case of scintillating scotoma that was objectively and quantitatively evaluated by a quantitative static visual field test.
[case] The subject was a 46-year-old female who worked at the Department of Ophthalmology. Approximately 10 minutes after she had noticed left homonymous scintillating scotoma, she underwent a visual field test using Humphrey field analyzer (threshold test 30-2 SITA-standard). The result showed a left hemifield depression. After the scintillating scotoma disappeared, the left hemifield depression also disappeared.
[conclusion] With the quantitative static visual field test, change with time in the scintillation of scotoma could be quantified as a scotoma and therefore, scintillating scotoma could be objectively evaluated.
