Description

Randot® Preschool Stereoacuity Test Chart (Stereo Optical Inc.) is a new stereopsis test chart which uses a pair of polarizing filters and random dot charts. We tried to quantify near stereopsis in 65 patients using Randot® Preschool Stereoacuity Test Chart. The patients also underwent stereopsis tests using the TNO Test and the Titmus Stereo Test Charts. Randot® Preschool Stereoacuity Test and the TNO Test revealed almost equal stereopsis in these patients. On the other hand, most of the patients showed better stereopsis with the Titmus Stereo Test Chart than that with Randot® Preschool Stereoacuity Test Chart. Some of the patients who had intermittent exotropia with large angle deviation or the history of amblyopia as compared with the rest of the patients showed poor results. These findings may indicate that the difference in stereopsis charts using the simple horizontal image disparity or the random dot technique influenced the results of these stereopsis tests.
