説明

Nasal mucous membrane is a pathogenic site of Type I allergy (nasal allergy), and a number of studies have suggested the involvement of histamine H1 receptors in this region.
Histamine H2 receptors, which are considered to suppress the activity of many immunity-related cells have, however been studied insufficiently.
In this study, the number of histamine H2 receptors was compared in 15 patients with allergic rhinitis and 19 non-allergic patients who had been treated with naso-sinus resection.
Their inferior nasal conchal mucosa specimens showed the following:
Bmax(maximum bound volume) was 52.95± 15.09 fmol/mg-protein in the allergic group, significantly higher than the 25.5 ± 3.72 fmol/mg-protein volue in the non-allergic group.
In the allergic group, Bmax in those below 40 years of age was 61.61 ± 18.07 fmol/mg protein, significantly higher than the 18.20 ± 5.44 fmol/mg-protein value in those over 40 years of age.
