Abstract
Sizing effects on mechanical properties of yarns are discussed in.this paper. To evaluato the penetrating rate of size into a yarn, the fraction of fibrs of the yarn effectively bondod by size is measured, and we call this ratio as “R.P.”.<BR>Abrasion resistance and stress-strain properties of nine types of sized cotton yarns were tested with HIRUTA YARN ABRASION TESTER and AUTOGRAGH TENCILE TESTER, respectively. In these experiments, it is shown that the prorerties of sized yarn differs with the R.P. value, and also the critical value of R.P. is about 50%.
