Abstract

Liberation is very important to separate different materials from wasted composites for recycling purpose. It is necessary to develop the new crushing method to tear off at the boundary of different materials. As the produced waste materials include many kinds of inorganic and organic components, it is difficult to liberate by conventional crushing and grinding. Here, the exfoliations on boundary of materials, that is, concrete, silicon with silica and liquid crystal display-panel are examined by electrical crushing (disintegration).
On the other hand, the waste portable telephones are fragmented by underwater explosion. The difference between the speeds of explosion shock wave in plastics, gum, glass and metals can enable the liberation of those materials at the boundary. The metal liberated parts of fragmented materials are leached by several lixiviants and the leaching conditions are compared.
Those experimental results suggested that the means of electrical disintegration and disintegration by underwater explosion are feasible to liberate and separate the components of different resisivity and boundary as the new pre-treatment technique for the recycling.
