Abstract
Through the stress-relaxation characteristics, an influence has been investigated of the stress and the relaxation time on the tensile recovery of filament yarns extended at the constant rate of extension. Experiments of the stress-relaxation and the tensile recovery have been carried out on three kinds of filament yarns, viscose rayon, polyester and nylon filament yarns. The following results have been obtained. The tensile recovery behaviour is directly dependent on the stress-relaxation characteristics. The tensile recovery behaviour of filament yarns which are poor in non-linearity is quantitatively similar to those theoretically predicted. In the case of filament yarns which are great in plastic deformation an influence of the stress and the relaxation time on the tensile recovery can not theoretically be predicted through the stress-relaxtion characteristics.
