Description

A sitting comfort of four automotive seats, whose wadding thickness was changed, and shape and structure of seats were the same, was evaluated by only tactile sensation while sitting on these seats. The adjectives used for the sensory evaluation of seat comfort by the human tactile sensation were examined by the factor analysis. As the result of factor analysis, the sitting comfort of driver's seats was evaluated by three adjectives "sinking", "thick" and "elastic". From the correlations between physical properties of the wadding and sensory evaluations for seat, it is found that the "high-class", "fit", "soft" and "hold" feelings of seat have positive correlations with the physical properties, namely the compression energy and the thickness of wadding. The "thermal and humid" feeling has a positive correlation with the compression energy and the thickness, and a negative correlation with the permeability. The "sinking" feeling has a negative correlation with the compression recovery.
