<p>This article describes the Learning Commons at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The Learning Commons provides a user-centered comfortable place for students to study and collaborate. Centralized campus services that provide advising, career counseling, writing assistance, reference and research assistance, technical support along with refreshments help students succeed in their educational endeavors. The emphasis is on the student. Services, as well as behavior policies, are designed to enhance easy, "one-stop" access to academic support and library resources.</p>
