Description

In the Japanese alpine zone, long-term changes in annual average temperature at the top of Mt. Fuji are similar to global average surface temperature changes, and have increased since the second half of the twentieth century. Callianthemum hondoense only grows in a narrow area on Mt. Kitadake, and is a relic and endemic species. The future existence of C. hondoense is endangered. However, scientific information on this plant is limited. The objective of this paper was to summarize the available information on C. hondoense and to discuss the impact of global warming on the future of this species.
