Description

A 39-year-old woman had noticed slowly enlarging alopecia on her parietal area for three months. She consulted our clinic because her hair became tangled while shampooing. Substance microscopy showed that numerous whole crystallized materials were irregularly distributed on the hair surface. The lift-up phenomenon was observed on the hair surface in the scanning electron microscopy. Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy did not detect any abnormal substance. Inappropriate hair care seems to have produced the entangled hair.
