Description

We present a 72-year-old man with urticarial erythema concomitant with early gastric cancer and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. The skin manifestation was improved after resection of the gastric cancer and eradication of H. pylori although it had been refractory to therapy with several antihistamines for more than one year, suggesting that the gastric cancer and/or H. pylori infection played a role in the development of urticarial erythema. A high incidence of concomitant gastric cancer has been reported in patients with chronic prurigo associated with H. pylori infection. We propose the value of assessment for gastric involvement even in cases with urticarial erythema associated with H. pylori infection.
