Description

A 63-year-old Japanese woman with IgG-κ myeloma developed the following symptoms; extensive necrosis of the skin, erythema, purpura, loss of hearing sensation and kidney trouble. Necrosis of the skin followed an attempt at cooling by her family to “relieve” pain. During the entire course of her illness she did not present radiolucent areas on X-ray films. Bence Jones’ protein was present in the urine. Diffuse type of myeloma was considered. Phagocytosis of cryoglobulin was observed within neutrophilic leukocytes. Meshed skin grafting was attempted.
