- Calorimetry of Silicate Melts
抄録
Melting enthalpies of silicates and a related compound were measured by high-temperature calorimetry. Fusion enthalpy of GeO2(quartz-type) was measured with high accuracy by differential scanning calorimetry at 1300-1450 K, and the phase transition and melting relation at high pressures and high tempcratures were thermodynamically calculated. Melting enthalpies of a model basalt in the system An-Fo-Di and of three primary melt composition samples in the system An-Fo-Di-En were measured by high-temperature drop calorimetry at 1400-1790 K. The fusion enthalpies were converted to those at high P,T conditions in the mantle, and an adiabatic decompression P-T path of mantle diapir was calculated using the measured data. These fusion enthalpy data also suggest almost zero mixing enthalpy for melts in the system An-Fo-Di-En. A very small mixing enthalpy in the En-Di system was suggested by the present drop calorimetry experiments.
