Abstract
A new optical fiber end tapering machine for on-site use was developed. This apparatus can machine a fiber end in only several seconds using a very simple mechanism. High-precision taper machining is achieved using high-precision shape and homogeneity of the optical fiber itself. Using this machine, the SF-type on-site assemble connector was achieved.
