Abstract
We developed a novel temperature monitoring technique by application of the pore electric discharge machining process to distribute a thermocouple sensor in the end-mill tool and using a wireless telegraphic multifunctional tool holder to directly evaluate the internal temperature of the rotating tool. We evaluated the internal temperature distribution based on multipoint simultaneous measurement, and also examined the influence of forced convection heat transfer on internal temperature of the tool. In addition, we demonstrated the validity and usefulness of the wireless telegraphic multifunctional tool holder by comparing the results of unsteady heat conduction analysis by FEM based on temperature measurement by high-speed video type infrared thermography with monitoring by the wireless telegraphic multifunctional tool holder.
