Description

The origin of Paget's cells in mammary Paget's disease is considered to be either Toker cells or migration of breast cancer cells to the nipple. On the other hand, extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) is classified into primary EMPD and secondary EMPD. The origin of Paget's cells in EMPD is considered to be 1) Toker cells (in primary EMPD), 2) migration of underlying cancer cells (rectal cancer, anal cancer etc.) to the epidermis (in secondary EMPD), and 3) migration of cancer cells from the anogenital mammary-like gland to the epidermis.[Skin Cancer (Japan) 2011 ; 26 : 21-27]
