- I. Studies on Conversion of Values for Approximation to the Normal Type
Abstract
Results of the clinical biochemical examination on 22 items were obtained from 66 healthy cattle and 455 cattle affected with various diseases. With them, studies were made on the conversion of numerical values, so that these values might show a high similarity to the normal type. Of the 22 items of examination in the healthy cattle, 9 items presented such anti-logarithms as showing a high degree of approximation. They were α-, β-, and γ-globulin, ZTT, urea nitrogen, blood sugar, total cholesterol, β-carotene, and vitamin A. Conversion to logarithm showed a high degree of approximation in 10 items, which were albumin, A/G ratio, ASR, GOT, γ-GTP, calcium, magnesium, white blood cell count, hematocrit, and hemoglobin. Of the remaining three items, the cube of total protein, that of the red blood cell count, and the cube root of inorganic phosphorus presented a high degree of approximation. The red blood cell count exhibited the same degree of approximation in the case of logarithm as in the case of anti-logarithm. It was impossible, however, to find any suitable conversion of numerical values common to the data obtained from the healthy cattle and those from the diseased cattle. Therefore, it seems better to use such conversion of numerical values as considered to be suitable for the healthy cattle when analysis of data, including those obtained from the diseased cattle, is performed.
