We investigated the change of salivary Immunoglobulin A (IgA) secration rates at high-stress examination period and low-stress period. The whole unstimulated saliva during 5 minutes were obtained from 28 dental hygienist students. We recorded the weight of saliva and then assayed the IgA by using radial immunodiffusion test.<BR>The results were as following;<BR>1. There were no significant differences in the average IgA secration rates, theaverage salivary weight, and the total IgA in a 5-min. period between high-stress and low-stress periods.<BR>2. The individual IgA secration rates of high-stress period were significantly correlated with those of low-stress period.<BR>3. The relationship between the egogram and the change of IgA secration rate at highstress period and low-stress period were analyzed by means of multiple regression analysis. There was a positive correlation between NP points and the change of IgA, and a negative correlation between FC points and the change of IgA, and the multiple correlation coefficient was significant.<BR>4. It was suggested that individual personalities might have affected the changeof IgA secration rate at high-stress period.
