Description
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is representative typical inflammatory cytokines. IL-6 is now recognized as important mediators linking inflamation and cancer cell biology. Il-6 affects cell proliferation, resistance for apoptosis, invasion, angiogenesis, metastasis, immunity, stem cell, and cachexia. IL-6 is highly up-regulated in many cancers and considered as one of the most important cytokine families during tumorigenesis and metastasis. This review discusses a mechanisms of IL-6 cytokine to tumorigenesis and metastasis.
