Abstract

The distribution coefficients of Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II), and In(III) between sodium thiosulfate solution and Dowex 1-X8 anion exchange resin were estimated by the batch method. In 1M sodium thiosulfate media Pb(II) and In(III) are strongly adsorbed on the resin, while Zn(II) and Cd(II) are adsorbed rather weakly. The quantitative separation of Zn(II) and Cd(II) from Pb(II) and In(III) can be achieved by eluting through an S2O3-form resin column with 1M sodium thiosulfate as an eluate. Pb(II) and In(III) which are remained uneluated on the resin can be recovered by the elution with 1M nitric acid but the yield of In(III) decreases to ca. 90%.
