Description

A method for the determination of trace of palladium in silver by atomic absorption spectrometry was proposed. For obtaining higher sensitivity and removing interference from disturbing materials, the silver was preliminarily removed by precipitation as silver chloride after the dissolution of sample, and the palladium was extracted from the remaining solution with methyl isobutyl ketone as its diethyldithiocarbamate complex. The extract was subjected to the atomic absorptiometric determination, and as little as 1 ppm of Pd in 2 g sample could be determined. Alternatively, the ex tracted dithizone- and 1-nitroso-2-naphthol complexes were applied to the spectrometry with almost comparable sensitivities.
