In the determination of glucuronic acid in blood plasma, dialysis was employed for deproteinization to avoid any coprecipitation or absorption of glucuronic acid with protein in the conventional methods. Blood plasma diluted two fold with Ringer solution (0.18ml) was dialysed against equal volume of distilled water using the dialyser in Fig. 1 and was set for 5.5 hours in an ice box. Glucuronic acid was determined on the dialysate by naphthoresorcinol method with a slight modification where the colorimetric procedure was reduced in its magnitude to one eighth. Determinations on blood samples added with known amounts of glucuronic acid resulted in recovery rate of 95105%.
