抄録

Silicate sample is fused with sodium carbonate, and Fe3+, Al3+, Ti4+ in filtrate after the determination of silica by usual method is precipitated as hydroxides. The precipitate is dissolved in HC1 solution and Fe3+ is extracted from 6N HCl solution with 10% xylene solution of a high molecular-weight amine (Amberlite LA-1). Iron in the organic layer is stripped into 0.2M HNO3 solution, adjusted to pH 3.7 using potassium bitartrate and titrated with 0.O1M EDTA solution using Cu-PAN as an indicator. The determination of Al and Ti in the aqueous layer after extraction of Fe3+ is carried out as following (1) or (2) : <BR>(1) Evaporate the aqueous layer nearly to dryness, dissolve the residue in dil. HNO3, adjust to 0.1M HNO3 acidity, add a definite excess of 0.O1M EDTA solution with hydrogen peroxide, and Ti4+ is back-titrated with 0.01M Bi3+ solution using XO as an indicator. The solution after determination of Ti4+ is treated again with excess EDTA solution, heated to boil, cooled, and Al3+ is back-titrated with a 0.O1M Zn2+ solution at pH 56.<BR>(2) To an aliquot of the aqueous layer is added an excess of 0.O1M EDTA with hydrogen peroxide, heated to boil, cooled, and the sum of Al3+ and Ti4+ is obtained by the back-titration with 0.01M Zn2+ solution at pH 56 using XO as an indicator. To an other aliquot of the solution is added NaOH solution, and Al is separated from Ti hydroxide precipitate. Al3+ in the filtrate is determined in the same way as in the determination of the sum of Al3+ and Ti4+. The amount of Ti4+ is calculated as the difference. The methods was applied successfully for analysis of silicates.
