説明

The thermal degradation products of narcotine and papaverine are separated by gaschromatography. The column is packed with Diasolid L impregnated with polyethylene glycol 6, 000. The columns employed are 2 m or 3 m in length ; they are used at 65°C for low-boiling products, and at 200°C for high boiling products.<BR>Thermal degradation products of narcotine or papaverine are fractionated into two portions ; the one is readily volatile products absorbed in ethanol, and the other is high-boiling matters dissolving in ethanol-acetone (1 : 1, v/v).<BR>Trimethylamine, dimethylamine and methanol are isolated from the mixture of low boiling products of narcotine decomposed at 220°C to 350°C, while monomethylamine and methanol are obtained from papaverine decomposed at 300°C to 350°C.<BR>Veratrol, guaiacol, homoveratrol and creosol are detected in high-boiling fractions from both samples although piperonal and veratric aldehyde are obtained only from narcotine.
