In the previous paper {Bunseki Kagaku, 27, 510 (1978)}, we reported a new thin-layer chromatography using aluminum foil thin-layer as adsorption layer. In this paper, we improved the preparation method to make adsorption layer on the surface of aluminum foil. Aluminum foil (40 μ in thickness) was treated with 2 N NaOH solution at 25°C for 2 min. After the reaction with NaOH became weak, it was treated again with 2 N NaOH solution for (510)s. After dried, in air, it was immersed in about 20% sodium silicate solution, again subjected to air drying and finally treated with 10% acetic acid : methanol (3 : 1 v/v). The aluminum foil thin-layer preparation by this method was scrubbed with water, activated by heating at 105°C for 30 minutes, and used. Sulfamins, various vitamins and organophosphorus insecticides were separation with this thin-layer plate. The good separation and reproducibility were obtained, and the solvent developing speed was fast as compared with the results in the previous report.
