Abstract

In a previous paper on Grifora frondosa, we reported that the morphogenetic properties of its fruitbody are markedly influenced by light stimuli of various kinds.<BR>In this study, we have employed MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) as a non-destructive method of tomographic imaging to clarify the growth process of the Grifora frondosa mycelium inside the medium.<BR>Using the MRI system, we obtained very clear time-resolved images of the development of the mycelium.<BR>This study confirms the effectiveness and potential of tomographic imaging for visualizing the growth of the mycelium inside the medium. This will make it possible to determine the optimum environmental conditions to obtain the desired morphogenetic properties and growth of Grifora frondosa.
